Disable annoying Ad calls & messages (Airtel users)

Fed up with annoying commercial promotional calls and messages from Airtel??

Don’t worry, I have an easy and permanent solution to this problem. Without any further ado, let’s get started!!

Step 1: Open Airtel Thanks app.

Step 2: Now on the home page, click the notification bell icon.

Step 3: Select the “Do Not Disturb” option.

Step 4: Click on “Activate/ Deactivate DND” option.

It will lead you to this page

Step 5: Selecting “Block All (Except Transactional communication)” option will automatically check all the checkboxes for the below categories. This ensures that Commercial Communication for all modes, days and time-bands will be blocked for the selected categories except for the communications related to Transactions (i.e) messages and calls made by Airtel to remind you to recharge your number when nearing due dates, bill payments announcement for postpaid numbers, messages which you receive when you recharge or activate a data pack, recharge pack recommendations and more related communications. These essential transactional notifications cannot be blocked and you will continue to receive it.

Selecting the second option “Block Promo (Except Transactional and Service communications)” will perform the same actions as the former, except for not disabling communications and notifications related to Airtel services such as Xstream, Wynk music, Airtel Payments Bank, Airtel Xstream Fibre Broadband and other related services offered by Airtel.

Choose the option you prefer. You can always come back and change your preferences.

Step 6: Now we have reached the last step of the process. Unfortunately, the “more preferences” drop-down option not seems to work. It has been disabled for some reason. Since we have selected the “Block All (Except Transactional communication)” option, all the preferences would have been selected by default. That is why the “more preferences” option is not enabled.

Okay, now click on “Submit” and you are good to go. You will be notified on the app screen and also via text message on successful activation of the DND service. You may note down the Registration number provided for future communications.
